Instructions to authors
Vidalia publishes
original scientific articles in Portuguese, English
and Spanish, with emphasis in the areas of Botany and
Conservation Biology, related to the Bromeliaceae. All
articles must be submitted to the editor by conventional
or electronic mail, to the address indicated. If conventional
mail is used, three copies (original article + two copies)
plus illustrations must be sent, besides a diskette
containing the respective attachments in Word for Windows
compatible software, version 6.0 or higher.
By submitting
an article to Vidalia journal the author(s) make(s)
the commitment of not submitting or having submitted
the same article to any other journal.
Manuscripts must
be typed on A4 size paper (210 x 297 mm) (standard 216
by 279 mm paper is also acceptable), double space, without
hyphenation, underlines or boldface, with top, bottom,
left and right margins of approximately 2.5 cm, source
Times New Roman 12, and with a maximum of 20 pages,
including tables and figures. Only scientific names
should be typed in italic. Acceptance of papers more
than 20 pages will be analyzed separately. Articles,
notes and reviews should begin with: a) title of the
paper and name(s) of the author(s). Footnotes appearing
on the first page, text and tables should be indicated
by numbers.
Tables and
Figures must be typed on separate sheets attached to
the text and numbered with Arabic numerals, indicating
their location in the text. The figure captions must
be on the bottom of the pages, preceded by the word
Figure. Photographs must indicate on the reverse side
the name of the author(s), title of the article and
figure number. Photos and figures will be reproduced
in black and white; hence they should present sufficient
contrast to allow a precise identification of the object.
The use of color photographs, if requested by the author(s),
will exclusively depend on the Editor’s approval, with
the cost prepaid by the author(s).
Text organization
should have the following sequence: 1-Title;
2-Abstract (in English) with key words; 3- Abstract
(in Portuguese or Spanish), with key words;
4- Introduction; 5-Material and Methods; 6- Results
and Discussion; 7-Conclusion; 8-Acknowledgements; and
9- Literature Cited.
The abstracts in
English and Portuguese/Spanish must contain concise
information on the main objectives,
methodology, results and conclusions, and constitute
a single sequence of phrases, with a maximum of 200
words.
The literature
cited must follow the examples below:

Title abbreviation in the Literature Cited must comply
with BPH and BPH/S recommendations.
